Kyiv. August 3 (Interfax) - ArcelorMittal Kryviy Rih (formerly Kryvorizhstal), Ukraine's biggest steel producer, reduced finished roll production tentatively 35.5% year-on-year to 2.56 million tonnes in January-July, the company told Interfax. Crude steel production fell 37.6% to 2.82 million tonnes, pig iron - 38.1% to 4.492 million tonnes and sinter - 32.6% to 4.492 million tonnes. The plant produced 436,000 tonnes of roll, 526,000 tonnes of steel and 458,000 tonnes of pig iron in July. In the seven months, the plant cut coke production 17.5% year-on-year to 1.44 million tonnes, including 222,000 tonnes in July. Iron ore concentrate production fell 27.2% to 3.723 million tonnes (654,000 tonnes) and crude iron ore production fell 32.4% to 756,000 tonnes (100,000 tonnes). ArcelorMittal Kryviy Rih does not buy iron ore feedstock from other enterprises. ArcelorMittal Kryviy Rih specializes in long products, in particular rebar and wire rod. Its main markets outside the CIS are the Middle East, Europe (EU and non-EU), Algeria and other African countries. ArcelorMittal Kryviy Rih reduced commercial roll production 23.9% to 5.632 million tonnes in 2008. | |
