11:31 AGRICULTURE MINISTRY AGAIN CALLS FOR TRANSFER OF UKRAGROLEASING TO MINISTRY'S MANAGEMENT
Kyiv, July 31 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukraine's Agriculture Ministry has proposed to transfer the rights to manage the corporate rights of Ukragroleasing state company, which now the cabinet has, to the ministry. A draft cabinet resolution has been posted on the official Web site of the Agriculture Ministry. An explanatory note to the document reads that the step would help increase the efficiency of state corporate rights management via the improvement of the company's organizational structure. As reported, in July 2006 Ukragroleasing was transferred to the management of the Agriculture Ministry, but in October 2006 the cabinet canceled the decision. Attempts to transfer the rights were also made in 2008, although these failed. Ukragroleasing was set up under a government resolution dated April 11, 2001. Its founder is the Cabinet of Ministers on behalf of the state. The company leases out farming equipment to agri-businesses. In 2008, the company bought 1,500 units of farming equipment worth UAH 185.7 million, which are to be leased to farmers.
